SR 39 at Davis Rd.
 
In December of 1837, Henry Myers deeded the southeastern corner of the
NW quarter of Section 11, in what was then Vernon Twp., Richland County,
Ohio, to the Elders of the Lutheran German Reformed Church of Richland
County. This document indicates that there was in existance at that time,
a meeting house, a burying ground, and a schoolhouse to be called the
Myers Meeting House. 1

The Myers Evangelical Lutheran Church was organized in 1834 by pioneer
Missionary Rev. F. J. Ruth and a log church was constucted on the existing
cemetery site soon afterward. Rev. Ruth remained in the area for many years
and preached to his congregation in English, while Rev. Andrew Kuhn was a
frequent visitor and preachedhis sermons in German for those who could not
understand English. In 1859 the second church was built, replacing the earlier
log structure.
 
In 1914, the Myers cemetery had established the reputation of being "the best
kept cemetery in this part of the state."
 
It is a beautifully maintained cemetery.

In 1824, Henry Myers and his family moved from Adams County, Pa.
to Stark County, Ohio. They then moved on to Richland County in 1831,
where later in the year his wife Margaret died. Six years later, Henry
donated land where she was buried to become the Myers Cemetery.
